Our Training Philosophy

Its not only important where you train but what you train on.

  1. Airplanes make for bad classrooms

  2. No ATC Delays, with the Hobbs Running

  3. Less time, less expense

  4. Save wear and tear on your aircraft

  5. Be prepared to handle all types of situations

  6. Your safety is never in question

  7. Practice until it’s second nature

  8. Training in simulators enhances flight safety

Solutions That SOAR

Flight simulation allows us to emulate scenarios and malfunctions more accurately than is possible in the aircraft. In the box, the pilot is unencumbered by the constraints of Air Traffic Control, and can react as he would during a real emergency. Emergencies that are practiced in the simulator are more accurate than those that can be safely presented in the aircraft.

Simulator training allows you to do things you wouldn’t dare try in the air. Simulator training is the only way to get the hands-on practice coping with emergencies in a safe and efficient environment.

Piper Navajo Chieftain

Course Objectives:

  1. General Operating Subjects (SOPs, Low Visibility Approaches, ATC & Emergencies Weather Avoidance).

  2. Piper Navajo Twin Engine Aircraft Systems (POH, Aircraft Limitations, Powerplant, Fuel System, and more).

  3. Flight Simulation (Checklist, Takeoff & Landings, Normal Procedures, IFR flights & Approaches, Abnormal & Emergency Events, and more)

About Us

Cornerstone Hangars has provided aviation services since 1996 with hangar / aircraft leasing, maintenance, simulator and aviation management.

Pilots and Pilot Training are both in short supply in 2022, 2023 and beyond. Cornerstone Hangars provides an opportunity for you to explore your calling.

What we do

Cornerstone Hangars provides professional, custom flight training to pilots and students interested in expanding their flight envelope dreaming of going for a first license, adding a rating, or developing new skills.

How we work

AIRCRAFT

We're not a traditional flight school, we're technically an aviation training lab. This distinction is subtle but important. As an aviation training lab, Cornerstone Hangars do not rent aircraft; we instruct in an aircraft simulator.

LOCATION

We primarily work out of Manitoba and northwest Ontario. Depending on your goals, we're willing to work with you at your airport though additional mobilization charges may apply.

APPOINTMENTS & RATES

Appointments are $275 for a 3 hour block to ensure you're not rushed on the ground or in the air. If a 3 hour block doesn't meet your needs, contact us for a quote.

What to expect

SIMULATOR PROGRAMS

After discussions with you, we'll tailor-make a program to meet your needs, your schedule, and your timelines.

Pre-flight Ground Briefings

While not as exciting as flying, pre-flight briefings are critical to your success as a student and a pilot. We'll take time to go through procedures, maneuvers, and key factors in detail so you know exactly what to expect and what's expected of you.

FLIGHTS

We strive to create a relaxed, stress-free environment for you to rent and learn. Flights generally last between 1 and 1.5 hours with routes specific to the objective.

POST-FLIGHT BRIEFINGS

Just as pre-flight briefings are essential to the success of a flight, post-flight briefings are critical to retaining the information and improving. We'll provide you with a report analyzing your performance, identifying what went well and where you need to focus.

Emergency Procedure Training

Dealing with uncertainty in the is one of the most challenging parts of flying and is often an area where pilots perform poorly.

Airlines recognize this threat and train their pilots extensively to manage emergency situations in a methodical way.

This program is designed to provide that same type of training to general aviation pilots to instill "muscle memory".

Real-world scenarios improve your knowledge, pilot decision making skills, and emergency response by presenting a series of scenarios, based on real-world situations.
